Oahu Day 2: Hiking Three Peaks with Friends

During my first day in Hawaii (see post here), I was lucky enough to meet someone who knew someone with a car. While I did not rent a car and would have if I had needed to, someone else at The Beach Waikiki had. 

And when someone rents a car and says there’s room for hiking, you are just along for the ride. 

So on Day 2, 2 friends and I drove about 40 minutes to the Three Peaks trailhead. If you are thinking about hiking Three Peaks, you need to look it up on All Trails and be an experienced hiker. Three Peaks is one of the most dangerous hikes, and there are clear warnings and specific documentation about hikers who have died. We were advised heavily by multiple people to only hike the first peak.

At first the hike was pretty easy and beautiful. Jungle and then an amazing pine forest. And then jungle again. 

Then we came to some ropes. We had to use our upper body to pull ourselves up. It was muddy. It was great. 

So alas after less than an hour, we hiked the first peak. The gals I was with decided they wanted to keep hiking to the next peak. And like I said, I was along for the ride.
